This historic Western-style building, originally constructed to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Emperor Gojong's enthronement ceremony, reflects a commitment to uphold the modern nation's sovereignty. Primarily used as a reception hall for diplomatic activities and communication with foreign envoys, Dondeokjeon was reported to have been demolished during the Japanese colonial period in the 1920s.
