Special Hanbok Experience Space

The Royal Tailor at Gyeongbokgung Palace

 

The royal tailor of the Joseon Dynasty, Sangeuiwon of Gyeongbokgung Palace, is returning! Experience traditional costume history with Korea’s intangible heritage artisans in hanbok accessory DIY, unique daily life shows, and other exciting experiences!

 

1. Ticket Opening

1 PM on Monday, September 23, 2024, on TicketLink

* Admission: Paid (10,000 KRW) / Maximum 2 tickets can be reserved per ID

* This ticket is for the intangible heritage DIY experience in Sanguiwon only.

* Other programs can be participated in on-site without reservation.

 

2. Event Information

- Date: October 9 (Wed) - October 13 (Sun), 2024

- Time: 10:00 - 17:00

- Location: Gyeongbokgung Palace area (areas opened for night tour)

- Participants: 2,000 people

 

3. Program Details

[Understanding Hanbok]

- Content: Storyboard exhibition showcasing the history and production process of hanbok

- Location: Corridor of Geunjeongjeon Hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace

- Time: 10:00 - 17:00 (ongoing / free viewing)

[Seeing Hanbok]

- Content: View the recreated Sangeuiwon space and daily life dramas of related characters

- Location: Inside and outside Sujeongjeon Hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace

- Time: 10:00-17:00 (permanent operation)

[Experiencing Hanbok]

① Intangible Heritage Kits with Chimseonjang (Sewing Craftsman)

- Content: Make a jeogori (top garment) bojagi (wrapping cloth) kit with Chimseonjang skill holder, Kim Young-sook

- Location: Sujeongjeon Hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace

- How to Join: Reservation / Paid (10,000 KRW)

- Time: 10:00 / 13:00 / 15:30 (30 people per session/90 minutes)

②Intangible Heritage Kits with Hwahyejang (Embroidered Shoe Craftsman)

- Content: Make a kkotsin (flower shoe) kit with Hwahyejang skill holder, Hwang Deok-seong

- Location: Sujeongjeon Hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace

- How to Join: Reservation / Paid (10,000 KRW)

- Time: 10:00 / 11:30 / 14:30 / 16:00 (30 people per session/60 minutes)

③ DIY in Hanbok (Korea Heritage Service x Object (Object Sangga))

- Content: Customize your own hanbok accessories (beoseon socks, bokjumeoni pouches)

- Location: Yungmuru Pavilion site, Gyeongbokgung Palace

- Time: 10:00 - 17:00 (ongoing / on-site sign-up)

*Priority for this experience is given to those wearing hanbok.
